| Who We Are The New Jersey Land Title Association is an advocacy group advancing the common interest of all those engaged in the field of evidencing title to real property and protecting the public interest in the maintenance and integrity of the recording system. The Association consists of Title Insurance Underwriters, a Title Agency Section, Affiliate Members, and Honorary Members. The association recognizes and supports The American Land Title Association and the New Jersey Land Title Institute. |

___________________________________________ HOMELESSNESS TRUST FUND There are now a total of seven counties in New Jersey who have adopted the Homelessness Trust Fund surcharge under the "Homelessness Trust Fund Act." Listed below are all of the Counties with effective dates: Middlesex County - effective January 1, 2010Passaic County - effective January 1, 2010 Bergen County - effective February 1, 2010 Hudson County - effective March 1, 2010 Union County - effective May 1, 2010 Somerset County - effective June 1, 2010 Mercer County - effective July 1, 2010 __________________________________________ STOP PROPOSED MUNICIPAL HOUSING TAX The NJLTA has joined forces with the New Jersey Association of Realtors and the New Jersey Builders Association to oppose legislation A3387, S2080, A3190, S2643, A3341) which would allow municipalities to charge a local housing sales tax to be collected with the realty transfer tax upon recordation of the deed. You can voice your opinion to the legislation by clicking here to send a letter to the Legislation leadership (Senator Codey and Assemblyman Roberts) urging them to oppose these proposed Bills. NJLTA ADOPTS ALTA's "PRINCIPALS OF FAIR CONDUCT" NJLTA has adopted ALTA's "Principals of Fair Conduct." Members! Special Notification: Assembly Bill 2506 passed both houses of the legislature and was signed into law on July 1, by the Governor. Section 48 of PL2002, c34 provides for Notary Fees. Under the new legislation which is effective 7/1/02, the fee for acknowledging for a grantor is $15. The fee for all acknowledgments for a mortgage closing is $25.00.
